Egypt, Antipollution Egypt discuss $150m green investment plan

Egypt’s Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Hassan El-Khatib met on Thursday with executives from Antipollution Egypt to discuss a $150 million investment plan in marine waste management and pollution control, the ministry said in a statement.

Antipollution Egypt, a subsidiary of Greece’s V Group, plans to roll out integrated projects supporting Egypt’s green transition, including recycling and emissions reduction initiatives.

El-Khatib said the government is prioritising green projects that create jobs and add economic value, citing the golden licence scheme that streamlines approvals for major investments. He added that Egypt’s location, infrastructure and growing private sector make it an attractive hub for sustainable ventures.

Vyron Vasileiadis, chairman of V Group, said the company is committed to zero waste and zero emissions in its operations. Antipollution Egypt CEO Kriton Katsamenis noted that most of the company’s workforce is Egyptian, with operations covering both the northern and southern sections of the Suez Canal.
