Egypt, Armenia discuss boosting health sector cooperation

Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar convened a meeting on Wednesday with Armenia’s Ambassador to Egypt Armen Sargsyan to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation in the healthcare sector, the Egyptian Cabinet reported.

Discussions covered the reactivation of bilateral health agreements, updated to align with current developments, as well as training programmes and medical expertise exchange. The two sides also examined the potential export of Egyptian pharmaceuticals to Armenia and the establishment of bilateral agreements in this regard.

Abdel Ghaffar invited the Armenian envoy to visit the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) to facilitate the registration and export of Egyptian medicines, particularly through state-owned Vacsera. The meeting further included the arrangement of a field visit to Egypt’s pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities to showcase the country’s advanced production capabilities.

Additionally, they discussed plans for a delegation of Egyptian pharmaceutical manufacturers and healthcare professionals to visit Armenia in July to explore business opportunities and strengthen investment ties between the two countries.
