Egypt, Armenia expand ties ahead of ’25 joint committee meeting

Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat met with Armenia’s Ambassador to Egypt, Armen Sarkissian to explore ways to deepen bilateral relations across political, economic, and cultural areas, according to an Egyptian Cabinet statement on Wednesday.

Minister Al-Mashat emphasised Egypt’s dedication to strengthening strategic ties with Armenia, pointing to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s 2023 visit to Yerevan as a key milestone in advancing cooperation.

While acknowledging that trade between the two nations has not yet reached its full potential, Minister Al Mashat highlighted significant opportunities for growth, especially in agriculture and light industries.

The minister also reiterated Egypt’s readiness to host the sixth session of the Egyptian-Armenian Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation in Cairo in 2025, where a number of agreements are expected to be signed to further enhance bilateral relations.
