Egypt’s Minister of Housing Minister Sherif El-Sherbiny met Bahrain’s Minister of Works Ebrahim Al Hawaj on Tuesday to discuss strengthening cooperation in urban development, housing, utilities and infrastructure, the ministry said.
El-Sherbiny highlighted Egypt’s experience in building new cities such as the New Administrative Capital and New Alamein, delivering over one million housing units, and implementing the Decent Life rural development initiative. He said Egypt’s urban area was expanded from 7 per cent in 2014 to 14 per cent in 2024, with plans to reach 18 per cent by 2030.
Al Hawaj praised Egypt’s progress and expressed interest in closer cooperation. Both sides agreed to hold joint workshops to explore collaboration on housing and infrastructure projects, the statement added.
