Egypt begins distributing Ramadan cash aid to families, social workers

Egypt’s Ministry of Social Solidarity on Thursday began issuing additional cash support for the holy month of Ramadan to families enrolled in the Takaful and Karama Programme, child pension recipients, and social workers, the ministry said.

Under the latest social protection package, eligible families receive 400 Egyptian pounds. Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy said the payments are available through bank ATMs, merchant point-of-sale machines, and post offices. Child pension recipients receive funds via postal transfers linked to their national IDs, while support for cases under the National Kafala Centre for children without parental care is deposited directly into Nasser Social Bank accounts.

Social workers can also access the additional support through their Meeza cash cards, usable at ATMs, post offices, and merchant terminals.

The ministry said the initiative follows directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to expand social protections and ensure families and frontline social workers receive timely assistance during Ramadan.
