Egypt boosts digital ties with S. Korea in high-level tech visit

A high-level delegation from Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) concluded a knowledge exchange visit to South Korea from June 23 to 27, focusing on digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and data governance.

Coordinated by the World Bank, the visit aimed to accelerate Egypt’s ‘Digital Egypt’ strategy by learning from South Korea’s advanced digital government ecosystem.

Delegates explored best practices in citizen-centric digital services, public sector AI applications, sustainable digital infrastructure, and data governance frameworks.

The programme, held in Seoul and Pangyo, featured site visits to AI labs and data centres and included sessions on topics such as digital inclusion, cybersecurity, open data policy, and cloud-first strategies.

The mission builds on earlier collaboration between MCIT and the World Bank, including a digital economy workshop held in Cairo in May 2025.

The visit reinforces Egypt’s commitment to adopting international best practices in its digital transformation journey and strengthening cooperation with global partners.
