Egypt, BP discuss boosting gas production, exploration 

Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, held talks with William Lin, executive vice president for Gas and Low Carbon Energy at BP, to review the company’s plans to expand investment in natural gas development and production, particularly following recent discoveries in the Mediterranean.

The meeting focused on accelerating joint projects to enhance domestic gas output. Badawi underlined the importance of Egypt’s strategic partnership with BP and the need to strengthen cooperation to reduce import costs and attract further investment to the energy sector.

The discussions also covered BP’s upcoming exploration activities in its Mediterranean concession areas, as well as the company’s ongoing community development efforts in Egypt. Badawi praised BP’s role in supporting local initiatives and emphasised the importance of continuing these contributions to maximise their positive social impact.
