Egypt c.bank issues warning against online banking scams

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) issued on Wednesday a stern warning to the public about the increasing number of online banking scams. The CBE has emphasised that it would never directly ask for personal or account information via phone, email, or text messages.

Citizens are urged to be cautious of unsolicited messages and phishing calls that attempt to trick individuals into divulging sensitive information, including card details, national ID numbers, and other personal data, the CBE noted.

The central bakn also reiterated that the only legitimate channels for updating bank information are bank branches or secure online banking platforms.

To protect themselves from scams, the CBE advises citizens to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to their respective banks immediately.
