Egypt, Chad discuss road, livestock facility construction

Egypt’s Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir on Wednesday met Chad’s Minister of Infrastructure Amir Idriss to advance infrastructure and transport cooperation, including a 2,600km overland road and a livestock-based industrial facility.

El-Wazir described the project as a critical artery for development and intra-African trade, emphasising Egypt’s commitment to overcoming all challenges to implement it successfully, as per an official statement published by the Cabinet.

He emphasised the strong Egypt-Chad relations and thanked Chad for its hospitality during the International Forum for Infrastructure Development in N’Djamena from February 18-20, 2025, with significant Egyptian participation.

He emphasised that the Egyptian companies specialising in infrastructure, transport, and industrial zone development are ready to undertake in Chad, leveraging their expertise and track record of success across the continent.

El-Wazir also highlighted Arab Contractors Company’s successful track record in implementing key infrastructure projects in Chad, showcasing Egyptian companies’ ability to deliver high-quality projects efficiently.

The meeting also covered updates on the establishment of an integrated facility for meat, dairy, and leather products, focusing on Chad’s abundant animal resources, according to the Cabinet’s release.

Idriss praised Egypt’s development progress and showed interest in enhancing collaboration with Egyptian companies in transport and infrastructure. He referred to the Egypt-Chad road as a vital link for economic and trade partnerships across generations.
