Egypt’s Ministry of Transport has launched trial operations of the Zheng He – Egypt Institute for Smart Railway Signalling, as part of efforts to modernise the country’s railway network, the Cabinet said on Wednesday.
The institute was established in partnership with China’s AVIC International Holding Corporation, Nanjing Railway Institute, and Egyptian National Railways. The project is aimed at boosting technical education, training, and knowledge transfer in railway signalling systems.
The initiative follows directives from Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir, and is expected to improve the quality of graduates entering the rail sector by aligning training with the latest global standards in electric train systems, the ministry said.
