Egypt has signed a cooperation protocol with China Electronics Technology Group Corporation to establish a joint laboratory for renewable energy, the Chinese firm announced in a statement Wednesday.
The project comes among the initiative of the Chinese President Xi Jinping to establish the economic belt for Silk Road and Maritime Silk Road, the statement said.
The statement clarified that the 48th Research Institute Of China Electronic Technology Group Corp. is to be responsible for the project in which Tianjin University will participate, while the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) will supervise project’s Egyptian side.
Moreover, both Egyptian and Chinese sides are to allocate sufficient budget to carry out and operate the laboratory. Project’s phase one will focus on photonic solar energy and other projects, a Chinese newspaper stated Wednesday.
