Egypt condemns Israeli strike on Qatar as “flagrant violation of international law”
Egypt on Tuesday strongly condemned what it called a “blatant Israeli act of aggression” against Qatar after an airstrike hit the Hamas political office in Doha, describing the attack as a serious escalation that threatens regional stability.
In a statement, the foreign ministry said the strike represented a “flagrant breach of international law and the UN Charter” and reaffirmed Egypt’s “full solidarity with the leadership, government and people of Qatar” in the face of what it called a “disgraceful attack.”
Egypt said Israel’s actions undermined efforts to reach a ceasefire and secure the release of hostages, accusing it of showing “a complete absence of political will for peace” and of persisting with “systematic violations of international law.”
Cairo warned that targeting Arab states’ territory was “an extremely dangerous development” and stressed that Qatar’s security was a “pillar of Arab national security.”
The statement also cautioned that the Israeli escalation could “expand the scope of confrontations at the expense of civilian safety and regional stability,” urging regional and international parties to rein in what it called Israel’s “reckless policies.”
