Egypt has confirmed 54 new coronavirus cases, a record daily increase, bringing the total number of cases to 710, a health ministry statement showed on Tuesday.
The North African country also reported five new deaths from the virus, bringing the total fatalities to 46, the statement added.
The newly infected cases are all Egyptian nationals who returned from abroad or were in contact with previously confirmed cases in Egypt, health ministry spokesperson Khaled Megahed said.
The total number of the fully-recovered cases surged to 157 on Tuesday, all of whom have been discharged from isolation hospitals, Megahed added.
Seven cases left quarantine also on Tuesday, he said.
