Egypt coronavirus deaths rise by 6, highest daily tally since start of outbreak
The death toll from an outbreak of coronavirus in Egypt has surged by 6 to 30, the country’s health ministry said in a statement on Friday. This is the highest daily tally since the pandemic emerged in the North African country on February 14.
Egypt also reported 41 new cases of the flu-like virus, bringing its total to 536, the ministry statement added.
The six fatalities include five Egyptians aged between 50-65 years and a 75-year-old German woman. The Egyptian citizens are from Cairo and the Nile Delta city of Damietta.
The new cases of the virus are all Egyptians, except for one American man, who were in contact with other patients, the ministry said.
