Egypt Cup games will resume after the Premier League games are finished, head of the competitions committee at the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), Hossam El-Zanati said.
“The remaining games of the Egypt Cup will be played in 12 days so we will resume it after finishing the Egyptian Premier League games,” he told a television programme on Thursday.
The EFA has announced that the Egyptian Premier League will resume on 6 August after almost five months of suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“We sent the league schedules to the security authority 10 days ago to receive the approval and we are ready to resume the league action,” he added.
“We are preparing to finish the new season games on 30 June.”
The EFA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports have implemented a new set of guidelines for precautionary measures including testing, training and medical precautions.
The EFA has already finalised its medical tests for most of the clubs, including players, trainers and employees. Several teams have already started training sessions.
Zamalek are set to face Smouha in the 16th round of the Egypt Cup while Cairo giants Ahly will play against Tersana to complete the last quarterfinal teams.
