Egypt declares 1 Nov. paid holiday for private sector to mark Grand Egyptian Museum opening

Egypt’s Labour Minister Mohamed Gobran said Saturday, 1 Nov., will be a paid public holiday for private-sector workers, coinciding with the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).

The decision follows Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly’s directive to grant the same holiday to employees in ministries, government agencies, local administrations, and state-owned companies, the Labour Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

The ministry has issued Circular No. 20 of 2025 to all labour directorates nationwide, instructing them to implement the decision and ensure private-sector workers receive the paid leave.

Gobran called on heads of central departments and labour directorates to disseminate the circular across workplaces and production sites to guarantee compliance.
