Egypt’s government has announced a three-day state mourning on Saturday, following the demise of Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who died at the age of 86.
The cause of his death was not immediately disclosed. He was hospitalised late last month for a health issue, as reported at the time by the state news agency.
The emir was admitted to hospital late last month due to what the state news agency described at the time as an emergency health problem.
Sheikh Nawaf, the sixth son of Emir al-Ahmad al-Jaber al Mubarak al Sabah, ruled the country for more than three years and served as governor of the Hawally city, south of the capital Kuwait, in 1962.
