Egypt denies link to LNG tanker involved in incident off Libya

Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum on Wednesday denied any connection to a liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker involved in an incident off the Libyan coast. It said the vessel was neither bound for an Egyptian port nor linked to any gas supply contracts with the country.

In a statement, the ministry categorically rejected what it described as inaccurate reports circulating about the tanker, stressing that the vessel was not listed under any contracts for supplying or receiving LNG shipments to Egypt.

The ministry said the claims were “completely unfounded” and urged media outlets to verify information through official sources before publishing or circulating such reports.

It added that it reserves the right to pursue legal action against those spreading rumours or false information that could harm national interests.
