Egypt denies raising tourist visa fees

Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities on Monday dismissed reports that the country had raised its entry visa fee to $45 from $25, calling the claims circulated by local media and online platforms “completely untrue.”

The ministry said the rumours stemmed from misinterpretations of recent amendments to Law No. 175 of 2025, which concern fees for buildings belonging to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It added that no executive decisions had been issued to increase visa fees.

Current measures only set an upper cap for visa charges and do not introduce any rise, the ministry said.

It stressed that the information circulating on social media “amounts to mere rumours” and reiterated that any updates on visa regulations or related matters are announced exclusively through official government statements. The ministry urged media outlets and social media users to verify information with competent authorities before publishing such reports.
