Egypt disburses EGP18.5b for social support since Feb – ministry

Egypt’s Finance Ministry announced on Monday that 18.5 billion Egyptian pounds has been disbursed since the launch of the social protection package in February 2026 to support eligible beneficiaries and the most vulnerable groups.
Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk said 6 billion Egyptian pounds has been made available to provide an additional cash support of 400 Egyptian pounds to 10 million families registered on ration cards.
Another 1.6 billion Egyptian pounds has also been allocated as extra cash support for beneficiaries of the Takaful and Karama programme, the Child Allowance, and Rural Pioneer women. He added that 3 billion Egyptian pounds has been allocated as additional support for state-funded medical treatment and for critical cases registered on waiting lists.
Kouchouk noted that 4.3 billion Egyptian pounds has been disbursed to accelerate completion of the first phase of the Decent Life initiative, which targets 1,000 projects. The minister also confirmed that 3.5 billion Egyptian pounds has been made available to the Egyptian Sugar and Integrated Industries Company to settle dues owed to sugarcane farmers.
