Egypt El Sewedy Electric unit plans $400 million industrial city in Tanzania
A subsidiary of El Sewedy Electric plans to set up a new industrial city in Tanzania with total expected investments exceeding $400 million, its chief executive said on Sunday.
Mohamed AlKammah, CEO of Elsewedy Industrial Development, said the Elsewedy Industrial City will be built over 2.6 million square metres, set to create more than 50,000 job opportunities and support Tanzania’s manufacturing strategy 2025.
The industrial city, to be located in Kibaha City around 15 kilometers (miles) from the Kwala dry port project, will include around 200 factors in strategic sectors, including the pharmaceuticals, building materials, food industries, beverages, and engineering industries, AlKammah added.
The city will also include Elsewedy Technical Academy that is committed to the internationally benchmarked standards of equipping Tanzanian workforce with in-demand skills, he concluded.
