Egypt’s ministry of petroleum and mineral resources signed preliminary tariff and handling agreements on Tuesday with Eni and TotalEnergies for the development of Cyprus’s Cronos natural gas field, the ministry said in a statement.
The agreements were signed on the sidelines of the Eastern Mediterranean Energy Conference and Exhibition (EMC) in Limassol, Cyprus.
Mohamed El Bagoury, Head of the Central Administration for Legal Affairs at Egypt’s petroleum ministry, signed on behalf of Egypt. Alessandro Gelmetti, Managing Director of Eni Cyprus Ltd, and Pascal Breant, Managing Director of TotalEnergies Egypt and Cyprus, represented their respective companies.
The signing follows recent commercial agreements between Egypt and Cyprus to transport gas from the Cronos field to Egypt’s infrastructure for processing, liquefaction, and export, reinforcing Egypt’s role as a regional hub for natural gas trade in the Eastern Mediterranean.
