Egypt’s Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk has ordered the establishment of central operations rooms at the ministry and the Holding Company for Food Industries (HCFI) to ensure the availability of goods and monitor state-run consumer outlets during the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
According to a cabinet statement, state-run consumer outlets will operate at full capacity, while 50 per cent of wholesale warehouses will remain open to supply rationed goods and additional allocations for April. Sugar and oil packaging factories will also continue operations.
Moreover, Farouk instructed supply directorates in all governorates to set up local operations rooms to oversee ration outlets, bakeries, gas depots, and fuel stations, with daily reports submitted to the ministry.
