Egypt explores hydrogen investment opportunities with Spain’s AeH2

Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib met on Monday with a delegation from the Spanish Hydrogen Association (AeH2), led by Chairman Javier Brey Sánchez, to explore investment opportunities in hydrogen production in Egypt.

During the discussions, Minister El-Khatib highlighted Egypt’s strong potential for hydrogen production, noting the country’s focus on expanding green energy projects and increasing their contribution to both local energy production and exports to regional and global markets. The minister reassured the Spanish delegation of the ministry’s strong support for hydrogen-focused companies and its commitment to creating a conducive environment for investment.

The meeting also covered AeH2’s activities, which represents more than 300 partners from across the hydrogen value chain, including renewable energy promoters, equipment, and, component manufacturers, Engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), oil and gas, industrial gases, transport, organisations linked to the sector, etc.

As part of their visit, the AeH2 delegation plans to explore investment opportunities in Egypt and engage with local research centres, universities, and industry partners. Additionally, discussions touched on Egypt’s financial, monetary, and trade policies, which are aimed at easing investment processes and promoting external trade.
