Egypt explores new gas, carbon reduction partnerships with Norway’s Equinor

Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum Karim Badawiy met with Jose Frey-Martinez, Senior Vice President of Exploration at Norway’s Equinor, on the sidelines of the World Energies Summit in London to discuss potential collaboration in natural gas exploration.

The talks highlighted investment opportunities and new incentives for exploration activities in Egypt’s Mediterranean and Red Seas, particularly ahead of planned licensing rounds, the petroleum ministry statement said.

Discussions also covered possible cooperation on carbon emission reduction initiatives, reflecting a shared commitment by Egypt and Equinor to advancing sustainable energy solutions.
