Egypt exports 210,000 tons of food in week ending 6 Feb. – NFSA

Egypt exported 265,000 tons of food during the week of 31 Jan. 31-6 Feb., shipped in 6,777 consignments from 566 companies, the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) said on Sunday. Saudi Arabia, the United States, Somalia, Russia, and the Netherlands were the top destinations.

According to the NFSA’s weekly report, the shipments included about 740 varieties of products, including fruits, vegetables, tubers, flour, and cereal products, and prepared fruits, and vegetables.

Fruit exports totalled 95,000 tons across 35 varieties, led by citrus at 75,000 tons, followed by strawberries at 12,000 tons, and other fruits at 8,000 tons. Vegetable exports reached 43,000 tons across 43 varieties, with potatoes at 15,000 tons, sweet potatoes at 10,000 tons, and assorted beans at 6,000 tons.

The NFSA noted that Egyptian food exports reached 186 countries last week, underscoring Egypt’s agricultural sector performance as the government seeks to diversify revenue streams and stabilise foreign reserves.
