Egypt exports 244K tons of food products in 1 week

Egypt’s food exports recorded approximately 244,000 tons during the week of February 1-7, according to the National Food Safety Authority’s latest report. The shipments included 770 varieties of vegetables, fruits, flour, and other food products.

Egypt’s vegetable export portfolio boasted 64 different varieties, with a total volume of around 70,000 tons. Potatoes topped the exports with 20,000 tons followed by beans with a total of 12,000 tons and sweet potato at 8 tons.

Last week, citrus fruits were the most exported fruit with 61,000 tons, followed by strawberries at 11,000 tons, and dates at 4,000 tons. In total, 78,000 tons of 36 fruit varieties were exported, the statement added.

Egyptian food exports cater to a vast international audience. During the week of February 1-7, shipments reached 205 countries. Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Libya and the Netherlands emerged as the top destinations for this bounty of Egyptian produce.
