Egypt has signed on Tuesday an agreement with Mitsubishi Power, a part of Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy for the upgrade and reliability of the Sidi Krir and El-Atf power plants.
The agreement will extend the lifespan of the power plants, improve power supply stability, and support the country’s transition to renewable energy, according to the company’s statement. This is a part the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)-financed agreement which signed in 2021.
The agreement extension was signed at a ceremony which took place at Almasa Hotel in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital (NAC) in Cairo and was attended by Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy.
