Egypt’s rebar imports fell by 76 percent, reaching 384,000 tonnes in the first 11 months of 2017, marketing officer in the country’s largest steel producer Ezz Steel said Tuesday.
Imports earlier stood at 1.589 million tonnes in the January-November period in 2016.
Egypt’s domestic production of rebars rose by 25 percent during the period from June to October 2017 to 3.220 million tonnes, backed by the Industry Ministry’s decree to impose anti-dumping duties in early June, George Matta further said.
