Egypt eyes high-tech diagnostic centres in UHIS-covered regions

Egypt Healthcare Authority head Ahmed El Sobky on Tuesday held talks with representatives from BIOMERIEUX Egypt and HYPHENS Solutions to discuss strategic cooperation in the fields of reference laboratories, rapid diagnostics, and digital transformation across governorates implementing the Universal Health Insurance System (UHIS).

The discussions focused on establishing central advanced reference laboratories in the Canal and Upper Egypt regions — including Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, South Sinai, Luxor, and Aswan.

These labs will be equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic technologies, aiming to deliver accurate and rapid results in line with global medical standards.

The meeting also addressed launching a wide-scale awareness campaign against sepsis, targeting both public and medical communities to improve early detection and prevention.

Additionally, advanced training programmes will be introduced for medical and nursing staff within the authority’s affiliated healthcare facilities.

Discussions further explored the integration of artificial intelligence and data analytics into the authority’s medical laboratories, linking them with the unified health information system.

This integration will support real-time biological data analysis and enhance the accuracy and speed of medical decision-making.

El Sobky affirmed that the authority is moving towards building integrated diagnostic hubs within the Universal Health Insurance governorates, supported by the latest technologies and private sector expertise to transform the diagnostic services landscape.
