Egypt, France discuss expanding IT investments
Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, met with France’s Ambassador to Cairo, Eric Chevallier, to discuss attracting more French investments to Egypt’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector and strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI), as per a Cabinet statement on Monday.
The meeting highlighted joint programmes and projects between Egypt and France in ICT, as well as French companies’ investments in outsourcing services.
Talaat emphasised Egypt’s commitment to creating an investment-friendly environment and encouraging global companies to expand their operations.
He expressed hopes for French companies to broaden their activities in Egypt, leveraging the country’s competitive advantages in outsourcing, including a skilled workforce capable of delivering multilingual digital services.
Ambassador Chevallier invited Talaat to participate in the AI Action Summit, scheduled for February 10–11, 2025, at the Grand Palais in Paris, which will address key topics such as AI applications for public benefit and global AI governance.
He also invited the ministry to join as a key partner in a French business community for the Middle East and North Africa, set for May, which will feature a focus on AI.
