Egypt, France discuss strengthening investment

Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib met with France’s Ambassador to Cairo Éric Chevallier to discuss opportunities for economic cooperation and ways to enhance bilateral investment ties, as per an official statement.

El-Khatib expressed appreciation for the longstanding relations between Egypt and France, emphasising the importance of strengthening trade and investment collaboration to serve the mutual interests of both countries.

He confirmed Egypt’s dedication to creating a favourable investment environment for French investors, emphasising ongoing initiatives to enhance the business climate and simplify regulations for foreign companies in Egypt.

The minister pointed to promising investment opportunities in key sectors such as renewable energy, technology industries, and infrastructure, encouraging French companies to expand their investments in the Egyptian market.

He commended the role of French companies in supporting Egypt’s economic growth, noting their significant contributions to job creation and development across various sectors, according to the statement.

El-Khatib also stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation in technology transfer and the localisation of advanced industries, reaffirming the government’s readiness to support initiatives that drive innovation and boost local production. He emphasised Egypt’s efforts to enhance public-private partnerships and described France as a key partner in various major projects.

For his part, Ambassador Éric Chevallier praised the close ties between Egypt and France and acknowledged Egypt’s efforts to enhance economic and investment cooperation. He reiterated France’s dedication to supporting collaborative investments that advance sustainable development and benefit both economies.
