Egypt, France explore deeper aviation ties

Egypt’s Civil Aviation Minister Sameh El-Hefny met with French Ambassador to Egypt Eric Chevallier to enhance bilateral cooperation in the civil aviation sector, according to the ministry’s report on Tuesday.

The meeting focused on boosting technical and investment collaboration across civil aviation, air navigation, and meteorology. The two sides reaffirmed their shared interest in advancing this vital sector in line with international best practices.

El-Hefny praised France’s high-level organisation of the Paris Air Show and noted that Egypt’s participation offered a valuable opportunity to explore the latest aviation technologies and engage with global industry leaders.

He emphasised the significance of the Egypt-France bilateral air transport agreement in facilitating increased flight operations and enhancing air connectivity to meet the rising travel demand from French tourists to Egypt.

The minister also emphasised Egypt’s focus on enhancing cooperation in meteorology through technology transfer, knowledge exchange, and aligning with global forecasting developments.

Chevallier welcomed the minister’s visit to France and his active role in the Paris Air Show, stressing that recent meetings with major French aviation companies underscored the depth of ties and the potential for long-term strategic partnerships.

He also praised the progress of Egypt’s civil aviation sector in recent years and reiterated France’s commitment to expanding both technical and investment cooperation in support of shared development goals.
