Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat met with Chairman of Greece’s Copelouzos Group Dimitrios Copelouzos to discuss strengthening cooperation in renewable energy and advancing the Egypt-Greece electricity interconnection project, ad per a Cabinet statement.
The meeting reviewed progress on the Egypt-Europe electrical connection through the direct Egypt-Greece electrical interconnection project, aligning with Egypt’s strategy to maximise the use of natural resources and expand its reliance on clean energy. Esmat highlighted Egypt’s ambition to become a regional energy hub.
Discussions also covered recent meetings between Egyptian and Greek grid operators, project developers, and European stakeholders interested in renewable energy investments in Egypt. The talks addressed bidding procedures, network upgrades, and the readiness of both countries’ grids to accommodate new capacities.
