Egypt Health Min. reviews healthcare system in Alex.

Egypt’s Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Alexandria Governor Ahmed Khaled met on Wednesday to discuss the progress of the  healthcare network project in the governorate, the Cabinet said on Wednesday.

This initiative is being conducted in partnership with an investment consortium and the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC) as part of the governorate’s health development plan, the statement added.

The meeting discussed upgrading existing health infrastructure and establishing new medical facilities to improve healthcare coverage in the governorate in line with the government’s vision for modernising Egypt’s health system.

The project aims to establish 70 smart digital clinics in the province, chosen based on population density for comprehensive coverage. Digital transformation is key to healthcare system development, as stated in the release.

The meeting focused on reviewing digital infrastructure and electronic systems to support real-time medical decision-making, improve resource allocation accuracy, and enhance patient experience.

Abdel Ghaffar directed the preparation of an MoU between the Universal Health Insurance Authority, the investment alliance, and the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC) to organise work according to the project’s plan.

He stressed the importance of setting up clinics following the ministry’s guidelines and meeting health insurance standards. The project aims to ease hospital workload by focusing on primary care and involving the private sector through a public-private partnership to improve healthcare quality in line with the state’s vision.
