The Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES 2025) hosted a ministerial session on Tuesday, on energy security and competitiveness, featuring top officials from Egypt, Cyprus, Greece, Nigeria, Yemen, and Tunisia.
Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawy emphasised the country’s role as a regional energy hub, citing strong infrastructure and partnerships with Cyprus and Europe. He outlined Egypt’s strategy to enhance energy diversification, expand renewable energy, and develop green hydrogen, while maintaining environmentally responsible oil and gas production.
Cypriot Minister of Energy George Papanastasiou highlighted Egypt’s expertise and infrastructure as key to Cyprus’ efforts to commercialise its gas resources. Moreover, Greek Minister of Environment and Energy Theodoros Skylakakis detailed Greece’s progress in energy security, electricity exports, and LNG supply to Eastern Europe.
Yemeni Minister of Oil and Minerals Saeed Suleiman Al-Shamasi noted Yemen’s vast gas reserves and export infrastructure, while Nigerian Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas) Ekperikpe Ekpo discussed Nigeria’s plans to expand gas production and attract investment.
Furthermore, Tunisia’s Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub highlighted Tunisia’s strategic location and commitment to renewable energy expansion.
