Ambassador James Moran – Head of Delegation of the European Union to Egypt – said the EU’s aid package to Egypt depends on obtaining the International Monetary Fund loan, which may not take place this year given the current circumstances.
However, Egypt may receive the EU’s aid next year if it fulfills all conditions required to obtain the IMF loan, Moran added.
He told the press on the sidelines of a EU-financed conference that the success of Egypt’s transitional period depends mainly on enabling women to practice their rights fully and according to international standards.
The EU and Egypt are continuing cooperation to proceed with the country’s road map, Moran said, stressing that the EU is looking forward to forming a stronger partnership with Egypt.
