Egypt’s Social Solidarity Minister Maya Morsy met with Indian Ambassador to Cairo Suresh K. Reddy to discuss boosting cooperation in economic empowerment, handicrafts, and social protection, the Cabinet said on Thursday.
Morsy said empowering productive families is a priority for the ministry, citing its role in supporting livelihoods and preserving Egypt’s artisanal heritage. She noted that the ministry has organised more than 36 Diarna exhibitions this year to promote handicrafts and is working with the agriculture ministry to establish a permanent exhibition centre for traditional Egyptian products.
She also highlighted opportunities for collaboration with India, including expertise exchange and access to the Indian market for Egyptian handicrafts.
Reddy praised bilateral ties and voiced interest in strengthening cooperation, particularly in economic empowerment, handicrafts and sustainable use of environmental resources, the statement said.
