Egypt installs replica of historic Karnak King List in Luxor
Egypt installed a replica of the ancient Karnak King List at Karnak Temple in Luxor last week, local press reported.
According to the press, the list holds a historic recording of 61 ancient Egyptian kings created during the reign of 18th Dynasty king Thutmose III.
It was created to celebrate his royal ancestry and was located at the southwest corner of the Akh-Menu Hall at Karnak Temple, Luxor.
The original list has been on display in Pairs at the Louvre Museum since 1843.
It is in deteriorating conditions with only 39 names legible.
However, the list is considered archaeologically invaluable, since it holds many names of First and Second Intermediate Period kings that were not mentioned on other monuments.
Konouz Egypt Replica Treasures, the first company in the MENA region dedicated to recreating ancient Egyptian treasures and artefacts in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities since 2021, created the replica over the period of three months.
