Egypt invests EGP 1.7b in 43 slaughterhouses
Egypt’s Minister of Local Development, Hisham Amna, announced on Sunday plans to develop 464 slaughterhouses and butchering points as part of a comprehensive programme, the Egyptian cabinet stated.
The first phase, funded by the ministry, and includes the development of 150 slaughterhouses to be implemented in three sub-stages.
The minister revealed that the urgent first phase of the slaughterhouse development includes the completion and operation of 42 slaughterhouses, in addition to the Damietta logistics slaughterhouse, at a total cost of about EGP 1.7 billion in 22 governorates, including Kafr El Sheikh and Beheira.
Amna announced that by March 2024, 11 slaughterhouses shall be completed and handed over as part of the urgent first phase for six governorates, at a total cost of about EGP 313 million.
All routine work in these slaughterhouses has been completed, and all special equipment has been delivered, achieving 100 per cent completion.
