Egypt ranked sixth in the classifications of the World Bank regarding the world’s top recipients of remittances according to the state-owned statistics agency CAPMAS.
In a recent report, it added that remittances from abroad reached 24.4 billion in 2020, representing 6.7 percent of GDP.
The report pointed out that remittances in the first half of fiscal year 2019/2020 reached $13.7 billion despite the spread of COVID-19, compared with $12 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year recording a 1.7 percent rise.
