Egypt issues 19.9m automated treatment decisions in FY 2024/25

Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population announced the issuance of 19.9 million automated complementary treatment decisions through the Egypt Healthcare Authority during the fiscal year 2024/25, in line with presidential directives on digital transformation, according to a ministry statement on Monday.

A total of 13 million electronic appointments were made across 250 clinics, while 120 additional clinics will be automated once the necessary equipment is provided. In addition, 160 clinic archives have been digitised, with work ongoing for a further 247, and 239 medical warehouses have also been automated. Specialised committees, including those for blood, growth hormones, cardiology, and cochlear implants, are set to be automated as well. The statement added that the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) has been implemented and integrated into hospitals.

An application for the New Administrative Capital Hospital has been added to the Unified National Network for Emergency and Public Safety Services. Steps have also been taken to adopt artificial intelligence services and conduct infrastructure studies for several affiliated hospitals.
