Egypt issues over 902k state-funded medical treatment approvals from August to October
Egypt’s Ministry of Health said it issued 902,730 treatment approvals at the state’s expense between 1 Aug. and 20 Oct., 2025, at a total cost of 8.119 billion Egyptian pounds, benefiting more than 806,028 citizens.
The ministry said the measure reflects the government’s efforts to ease the financial burden on citizens and expand access to quality medical care. The approvals covered a wide range of specialities including oncology, cardiology, orthopaedics, neurology, obstetrics, and dialysis.
To streamline services, 2,045 medical cases were assessed remotely via video conference, eliminating the need for patients to travel to the medical councils’ headquarters.
Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar also directed medical committees to conduct examinations for 78,056 applicants for the Comprehensive Services Card, which grants access to government health and social support, across all governorates.
In addition, 65,196 applicants for the Takaful and Karama cash support programmes and 13,105 people applying for tax- and customs-exempt vehicles for persons with disabilities underwent medical examinations.
The ministry said the examinations were carried out in coordination with university hospitals, the Armed Forces, and police medical units, while eligible cases are referred to the Ministry of Social Solidarity for the issuance of cards. It reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring proper governance of medical procedures and facilitating access to services for persons with disabilities.
