Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is participating in the third and final African Preparatory Meeting for the World Telecommunication Development Conference 2025 (WTDC-25).
The event is being held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from August 25 to 29, with delegates reviewing key issues ahead of the global conference, according to the Ministry’s announcement on Monday.
Egypt is participating in its capacity as chair of the African group preparing for WTDC, under the African Telecommunications Union, reflecting the country’s leadership in unifying African positions.
The meeting aims to review the outcomes of the second African preparatory session, receive reports from three working groups on regional initiatives, working methods and study issues, as well as ICT development programmes and harmonisation of decisions. Discussions will also assess progress on drafting joint regional proposals.
Delegates are expected to adopt common African proposals to be presented at WTDC-25, organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Baku, Azerbaijan, this November.
The session will also designate African coordinators for proposals and regional representatives in conference leadership committees, highlighting the continent’s priorities and development aspirations.
