Egypt’s Central Administration for Plant Quarantine (CAPQ) participated in a regional workshop in Salalah, Oman, to review international plant health standards, the agriculture ministry said on Sunday.
CAPQ head Mohamed El-Mansi joined discussions on draft standards covering electronic phytosanitary certificates, inspection procedures, and trade in crops including bananas and taro, the ministry said in a statement.
The workshop called for greater regional participation in the International Plant Protection Convention’s strategic planning group and recommended adopting Arabic as a reference language in related meetings.
