Egypt, Jordan begin preparations for 33rd joint committee meeting in Amman

Egyptian and Jordanian officials began preparatory meetings on Sunday in Amman ahead of the 33rd session of the Joint Higher Committee, aimed at expanding cooperation in trade, investment and economic development, the Egyptian government said.

The expert-level talks will set the stage for ministerial discussions led by Egypt’s Planning Minister Rania Al-Mashat and Jordan’s Industry Minister Yarub Falah Al-Qudah. The full committee session will be co-chaired by Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and Jordanian Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan.

Minister Al-Mashat said the agenda includes small and medium-sized enterprise development, food security, the status of Egyptian workers in Jordan, joint training programmes, and follow-up on technical committee recommendations.

Established in 1985, the Joint Higher Committee has signed more than 173 cooperation agreements covering economic, commercial, cultural, scientific and technical fields. The latest session comes as both countries navigate regional economic and geopolitical challenges.
