Egypt launches initiative to boost industrial growth in Sohag
Minister and Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel El-Wazir, unveiled a plan to boost industrial growth in Sohag through the creation of investor committees for each industrial zone.
During a recent meeting with Major General Abd El-Fattah Siraj, Governor of Sohag, and local investors, El-Wazir focused on pressing challenges, including the reclamation of unused industrial land and urgent infrastructure improvements. He emphasised the need to reclaim land from investors who have failed to take action within specified timelines.
The meeting, held at the headquarters of the Industrial Development Authority, further addressed various obstacles investors face, such as inadequate utilities and transport. El-Wazir directed the Sohag Governorate to enhance roads leading to industrial zones and provide public transportation options for workers.
Investors raised specific concerns, including difficulties with utility connections and licensing challenges for furniture workshops in residential areas. El-Wazir committed to resolving these issues quickly, ensuring that the Digital Industrial Egypt Platform facilitates faster processing.
Moreover El-Wazir pledged to maintain ongoing dialogue with investors, scheduling the next meeting for September 28 with investors in Qena.
He also announced the creation of a service and support unit for investors at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to address complaints and suggestions.
This proactive approach aims to foster a more supportive environment for industrial development in Sohag, paving the way for increased investment and economic growth.
