Egypt launches initiative to facilitate medical treatment for citizens abroad
Egypt on Thursday launched a new initiative aimed at helping citizens living abroad access medical treatment in the country, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Atty and Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar signed a cooperation protocol to introduce the Your Treatment in Egypt Programme, designed to streamline healthcare services for Egyptians overseas.
Under the initiative, Egyptians abroad will be able to access an online system providing information on accredited hospitals and medical centres, available medical specialties, electronic appointment bookings, and remote consultations before travelling to Egypt, the ministries said.
The two ministers said the programme aims to simplify procedures for patients seeking treatment in Egypt and improve coordination between the foreign affairs and health ministries in providing healthcare services to citizens abroad.
