Egypt, Lebanon discuss expanding economic cooperation at 10th joint committee session

Egypt’s Minister of Planning Rania Al-Mashat met with Lebanon’s Minister of Economy and Trade Amer Bisat to explore new avenues of economic cooperation and coordination between the two countries, Egypt’s planning ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

The meeting took place during the 10th session of the Egyptian–Lebanese Joint Higher Committee, which serves as the main platform for policy coordination and bilateral agreements.

Al-Mashat reaffirmed President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s commitment to strengthening relations with Lebanon and advancing them to the level of a strategic partnership. She also reiterated Egypt’s support for Lebanon’s stability and reconstruction, saying Egyptian companies stand ready to participate in rebuilding efforts.

Bisat, for his part, expressed Lebanon’s interest in deepening economic ties with Egypt and invited Al-Mashat to attend the Beirut One: Investor Conference scheduled for 18-19 November, 2025.

Both ministers agreed to maintain close coordination to follow up on the committee’s outcomes. The previous session of the committee resulted in four cooperation agreements covering tax expertise exchange, communications and information technology, investment promotion, and building materials imports.

Bilateral trade between Egypt and Lebanon climbed 29.3 per cent year-on-year to $1 billion in 2024, up from $774 million in 2023, according to the statement.
