Egypt lifts ban on rice exports, applies $255 tariffs

Egypt lifts a ban on rice exports and is to apply an export tariff of 2,000 Egyptian pounds (US$255.43 million) a tonne, the ministry of trade and industry announced Sunday.

A statement by the ministry said the decision to lift the ban would be valid for six months from the date of publishing it in Egypt’s official gazette, Reuters reported.
